Melodies
Ever since I posted the poem
“Distorted Melodies”(click to read), people have approached me and told me that the poem is
fine, but they didn’t really see what it meant. So I decided to go ahead and
write this gist to help readers to see it in a new light.
When God, at first made man, He
showered on him all His blessings, perhaps more than was reasonable. So the
angels, who had been perfect beings till then, suddenly felt insecure. God
sensed this and took away from them their place from heaven.
Infuriated by this insult, the
angels descended upon mankind, blaming them for their loss of paradise. But
before they brought judgment upon man, they posed a question before them: “For
as long as you’ve existed, you’ve always lived in an illusion of control. You
claimed strength that was not your own. Now, we threaten your very existence,
and yet you seem undisturbed. Why is it that despite your imperfection, you do
not fear us?”
And in reply, the wisest man of
their times spoke, “you speak the truth. We are indeed far from perfection. But
that is because we took birth from imperfection itself. We always chase
perfection, even when we know we cannot reach it. But in that flash of a moment
we call life, we enjoy far more than you could with your immortality. Knowing
that we cannot live forever makes us grateful for the simplest pleasures. And
so, we are beloved of the Lord. But you claim to be perfect. You are said to be
symbols of love. You claim to have renounced the 7 evils (Greed, Lust, Pride
Wrath, Gluttony, Sloth and Envy). Yet you have no heart. So I ask you this:
have you truly renounced all evil? Is it not that you envy us? Is that not why
He disavowed you? So even if these might be the last words we humans speak,
they will be the ones remembered throughout the universe, across the ages. So
wallow all you like in envy of us, but no one shall remember you.”
And then the Lord spoke, revealing
the true designs. This was a test staged by Him to see how strong the humans
believed. And He praises the humans for passing His test, for Believing.
