Instigation Of A Friendly War

Instigation Of A Friendly War

Ingressing a new group in my section divide.
For them information and treats was all I could provide.
Forgetting the services they were extracting from me,
their friendship and popularity were the things I would see.

My mind turned atrocious,
as worse as it could be.
For my friends oh so precious!!
a puppet,to repay their friendship fee.

I followed their wide feet toes.
A bodyguard with whom they would defend.
Couldn't last as friends but foes,
until the very end.

My mind still runs in past,
where I danced on their finger tips.
Couldn't break the ropes as fast,
till I cried to my miserably dried lips.

I am left alone Alas!!
In the very empty corner of my class.
In desperate search of the personality my body lacks.
Right next to a row full of their school sacks.

The thoughts of their oppression.
My heart, not wanting to go in depression,
crawled to my parents with complains to be filed.
But their answer was not more than just,
"that is peer pressure my child".

Is it Just Me?

Is it Just Me?

Fire-breathing dragons, in the middle of a town,
Humongous giants, with foreboding frowns,
Unbreakable castles, no matter what hits,
Demons and ghouls and holy spirits

Imagine, imagine is all I do all day
But I've got a question: What do you say?
What I do feels weird right? What do you feel?
Is everyone the same, or is it just me?

I live in my own world, I'm not oblivious though
To the real one; so I know
That it is so broken.
I know this line is clichéd but it is true
Why I am what I am is what I'm going to tell you:
I'm fed up with this world, so I've made my own
Why do I feel like I'm not alone?
'tis not an 'I', but rather a 'We'
No, I don't think that it is just me
.
To make the world interesting, I give it my touch
With just some imagination, I can do much
If the world is a dish, my imagination is the spice
To make it beautiful is my device
It's not me who's weird, I know you can't see
Though I really don't care what you think of me
Maybe its the way I like it to be
I've got my answer, yes it IS just me!

A Poem With Two Meanings

A Poem With Two Meanings

Hello, friends.

This poem (as the title states) has two different interpretations. One is dark, the other is darker still. See if you guys can figure both out.

Cheers,
Akash

There was a Time of Honest Men

There was a time of honest men,
Upon whose shoulders the world would bear.
Now men carry their weight alone,
And hang about without a care.

Some strain their necks trying to speak.
And breezes make them gently sway.
The rest too tired do deeply sleep.
As madness takes their breath away.

The mind is fragile as the flesh:
Easy to twist, and bend, and break.
And thinking minds stop so abrupt,
When they fall for goodness’ sake.

There was a time of honest men,
Upon whose shoulders the world would bear.
Now men carry their weight alone,
And hang about without a care.

Wedding Medley

There is something about weddings that I always love. Indian weddings unlike the western wedding ranges for about a week or two. With India being called the melting pot, There is a lot of change in customs and traditions amongst  families too!
But these days with the enhancement in technology, there have been a lot of changes in the way even common wedding rituals are happening. So here are some contrasts in arranged marriages happening now that I would like to share with you which does sound humorous sometimes:

1)    Usually arranged marriages have a ritual where in the boy along with his family and near and dear ones visits the to-be-brides house. The approached wedding bride hides in the room and usually has a glance at the family to look at the boy’s features. But these days due to advancement in the cosmetic industry, sometimes the boy’s father looks quite young too, with his handsome black hair confusing the girl!
2)    The Bachelorette girl had to spend a lot of time in the parlour to get dressed for the photograph that would be used in handy to show to the grooms side. But now, thanks to the photo editors available one can now change the brightness, colour or even the whole girl in general! One wont be surprised to find a girl with Chinese eyes having a Bengali eye in the picture. Thank you Photoshop!
3)     When my grandmother married my grandpa she had no idea as to what he liked, where she would be living etc. But today, with a great improvement in telecommunication, you have the boy and girl talking to each other or chatting on social networking sites. May be that’s a nice side about this, at least the girl can go to her husbands house with better preparation.
4)    The frequent visits of the pandit (priest) to the two houses involved has decreased due to a number of online marriage sites which allows one to fulfill all his criterias. There are no adjustments in their given criteria “beautiful, fair, 5:8 girl for a 6 feet handsome and fair boy.” Thank you but no thank you if you are 5:7 and half.
Now that I think of it, my grandpa is really blessed to be of the 70s generation or he would've had to post his biography on shadi.com, once approved he would've had to  snapchat with my grandmom , poke her on facebook, follow her on instagram and chat with her for 24 hours on whatsapp, skype, hangouts, wechat etc etc. until they finally get married. Ooh and yes I forgot to mention, change his relationship status from single to married on facebook too. He did save a lot of his time!

On Poems

On Poems

Hello, everyone.
This is my first blog post -- ever. It's nice to meet you all. My name is Akash Gaonkar, and I am an aspiring poet / CS student. Here's a poem I wrote, once upon a time. I hope you guys enjoy it.

The Author Wrote the Poem Right
Akash Gaonkar

Are walking on the beach.
Dignified are all their airs,
And airy is their speech.
“Come with us-- the things you’ll learn...”
They surely will beseech,
But be careful little oysters,
They are not as they preach.

Improve each shining hour”,
But as we seek the poem’s milk,
We watch its wine go sour.
Ours is not to care.
“[Ours is] but to do and die.”
Our ignorance declare.

Be free, let go, take a chance,
You’ll find yourself quite freed.
Don’t follow all those stupid rules,
They aren’t what you need.
Don’t be chained to narrow tricks,
Be open when you read.
The author wrote the poem right,
So let the poem lead.

Vacations: aka Holidays

Hello readers! Its been a really long time since my last post.[Of course, because i'm a student, and had what a student like no other would have had, exams.]

Now that the exams have ended, it's vacation time!.... Aren't vacations always awesome and you're free from all responsibilities? Well.... Not always. Not if you're an undergrad and about to enter the race of getting yourself a Bachelor's degree.

If you are experiencing or have already experienced it, you can relate to this ;)
It is the longest vacation in a student's life. On one hand, it seems like a good feeling, but on the other hand, uhmm....it seems not as great as you might have thought it would. Why? hmm...

In this long vacation... there are phases you go through, like waiting for results, then getting 'em, then reacting over the result. Next, you've got to apply for your degree college..wait anxiously for their verdict, then refer your algorithm as to what to do next.[ what if they want me in, should i go? what if they don't want me, should i threaten them to take me in? what if they want to puncture my wallet and suck out the money? ]

There are a lot of courses to choose from...lot of options....you've got to have a plan if you want to make the right choice. Which college to choose, why to choose, how to choose....well,the list goes on. That's quite why our "vacations" are long, maybe.

" What to do...why to do..why do what we do when we are supposed to do what we are doing? " Vacations eh? LOL

On the fun side, you can get to do at holidays, what you couldn't do the academic year round.[do i mean studies?] You could take up a hobby, a musical instrument lesson, or do what i'm trying to do, GYM! ;)

Although that being said, you might as well want to use the vacations the traditional way; the conventional way, by going out somewhere on a trip with your family and friends. You could as well, plan a long tour abroad if your wallet isn't grumpy about it that, or go trekking, go on a spiritual tour (if you're a 'theist' :P), or just stay at home watching discovery channel.

If you're a geek, gamer, a classified nerd or a follower of the religion of Jedi, you can book a ticket to the Comic Con (if you're lucky to have one in your vacation) or get the latest Nintendo Console, the Xbox, or get some PC games if you're into them....you could buy all the games you have on your wishlist through online shopping..[ Isn't that why online market is for? ] you can have all your video games home delivered...so that it saves your time, which u can use to complete another level of that game you're into. wondering how i know so much about you..?

If you're a book digger, or a book addict, or read books like a drug addict would sniff cocaine, then try entering into an Genre you haven't tried before. Try entering into the Science novels...or the philosophical ones, if you haven't tried those. try reading biographies, drama, Abridged versions of awesome epics, etc. [NO CHETAN BHAGATs]

So to sum it all up, holidays are how you look at them. If you're an Indian and been through the Indian Education System, it is the only time you get to actually be educated. It is that lil' window of opportunity to explore and learn and have fun. So get ready to spend the rest of your holidays doing what you think you'd be doing someday, because trust me, that someday's never gonna come. Live Life Grand, Live In the Present. Enjoy your best times and make 'em  memorable :)

And As Always, Keep Reading Writers' Retreat :D
